i-Guide from StreetAccess provides web-based services for schools and colleges, and for museums, galleries and other public spaces. i-Guide gives any school, museum or gallery the capability to create their own bespoke, interactive, online learning materials and guides.

These ‘Trails’ can be viewed on any internet-capable device, including PDAs and mobile phones as well as desktop or laptop computers. Every individual visit or lesson is captured as it happens and can be revisited later. The results can be downloaded to paste into coursework, or simply to keep as a memento.

How i-Guide Works

Photo of woman building a trail on a desktop PCAt the heart of i-Guide is the easy-to-use Trailmaker application that allows teachers or gallery staff to write interactive Trails that can be accessed on PDAs, mobile phones or personal computers. The Trailmaker is web-based, so trails can be created or edited wherever you are and the results easily previewed for assessment before they ‘go live’. Trails can then be automatically uploaded to the StreetAccess website, and later removed if so desired.

Access to Trails is controlled by their creator - they can be open to anyone, or restricted to users from a particular group, such as an individual school or LEA. The flexibility and ease of use of the Trailmaker means that teachers and gallery staff are entirely in control of the process and can modify trails or upgrade them whenever they wish. Users are given individual IDs, and these can be added or removed at will.

Using i-Guide

Screenshot of the entry page to the StreetAccess web siteStreetAccess provides internet availability for every Trail that the gallery or school uploads. It makes every live Trail available via the web for viewing on PDAs, mobile phones or any internet-linked computer. The i-Guide service stores a record of every User and of each Trail taken by a user. Each user can preview the Trails before taking them, and having taken a Trail can then revisit their own individual ‘journey’ by calling it up from the StreetAccess website. The recorded Trails can be downloaded and kept for further use, or edited into other material. The StreetAccess website is fully backed up in real-time.
